The beloved character of Mary Poppins is known in many households across the world. Mary first makes her appearance in the popular books written by P.L. Travers, an Australian author known for her beliefs rooted in the Pagan tradition(12). Following quite the battle, Walt Disney obtained the rights to the Mary Poppins’ novels and created a beloved movie, released in 1964(7,10,11,14). It has been suggested in many works that the character Mary Poppins is the Triple Goddess of the Pagan faith, more specifically the Mother aspect of the Goddess. This website is intended to analyse these arguments by looking at the author P.L. Travers, Mary Poppins as portrayed through Walt Disney’s film, and the relationship of the two in the Walt Disney film Saving Mr. Banks. |
